Family Weekend

Since it was an away game this past weekend, Brian and I had a free weekend.  We had originally planned a camping trip with some of my friends, but we decided not to go when the forecast called for three days of rain.  Instead, we spent a good portion of the weekend with Brian's family, who we haven't seen in a while.

Saturday was a family get-together.  We were welcome any time after 3pm (the Badger game started at 2:30).  Knowing he shouldn't mess with me and my Badgers, Brian agreed to make a stop at a restaurant with plenty of TV's to ensure that I could watch the entire Wisconsin - Iowa game.  We planned to leave at half time and make it to Brian's uncle's house in time for the party.  We settled on Buffalo Wild Wings as the restaurant of choice. I had never been there before, but I figured it would do the trick.  Now I don't really care for meat on bones or breaded meat, so I was a bit concerned about the whole meal aspect of the stop (and I didn't really enjoy what I ate), but I was happy to see a good portion of the game that I would have missed had we driven straight to Brian's uncle's.

At half time, we left the restaurant and drove to the party.  We had just enough time to catch up with everyone and check in on the various family injuries - my ankle, Grandpa's poor finger, and Curt's leg wound. Then, it was time to turn back to the game.  Brian's cousin and his girlfriend, fellow UW alums, were watching the game with us, and Christina and I were happy to have company as we became more and more anxious.  As time expired and cheering commenced, we all high-fived and hooted.  Gosh, it's good to be around other Badger fans!

Sunday, we spend the afternoon with Brian's sister and his parents.  Since his sister had work done on her basement, she needed some help cleaning up the dust and such left behind.  We were happy to channel our inner Mike Holmes and offer some assistance.  She rewarded our work with a yummy dinner.

It was really nice to spend so much time with family this weekend.  It's hard to find the time for that, so when we do, I really appreciate it.  This weekend we're back to more 'typical' Brian and Amy activities - we're heading to ol' Kentucky!  And boy am I excited.

  2. Amy-

I hate Buffalo Wild Wings, it gave Melanie and I food poisoning in college-- just be cautious with that place.

You would have been really proud of me, this weekend I watched the Wisconsin game and was cheering and shouting at the TV at the edge of my seat until the game was over. Hey, afterall I was born in Madison so I know where my loyalty lies.
