Life on the Runn...

Whenever we would fight, my dad would remind my brother and me that we only have each other and that we needed to learn to appreciate one another.  And though, for a time, I thought life would be easier as an only child, deep down I knew my dad was right and I knew I needed to appreciate my brother.  The older I've gotten and the more my brother and I have grown, the more I realize how lucky I am to have my brother in my life, and I certainly cannot imagine my life without him. We grew from bothering each other incessantly (okay, so maybe it was me forcing him to play school that caused the majority of our disagreements) to being really close and voluntarily spending time together.  We went from getting in trouble for bickering to getting in trouble together :) The other day, while casually conversing via text, my brother mentioned that he knows I always have his back (he has a tattoo of my name to prove it).  I don't know if he understood h...

You'll remember I mentioned that cable was not long for the world, at least not in our house.  Feeling guilty about taking a fun trip and leaving me in the frigid Midwest, Brian held off on canceling cable for a few more days.  Making good use of the jumbo TV in his absence and utilizing every available moment while cable still exists, I've been getting my fix of MTV and Bravo.  Real Housewives is quite captivating, I must say. I think a marathon is in order.  I'd even settle for a Teen Mom marathon... ...What am I saying?!  Quick, someone bring me a book.

That is right....we are getting rid of cable.  I am not entirely sure how I feel about this decision just yet.  And I am not sure what I will do without my mindless-TV fix.   I mean, how will I get through my week sans Teen Mom, the Kardashains, or The Real Housewives?! Maybe a few weeks without poker will send Brian back to the dark side and we'll be watching cable again.  Until then, I am taking over our Netflix queue. I was reading my cousin Jenny's blog , and she posted about her brother's birthday.   She did a really cute thing and posted 24 facts about Sean in honor of his 24th birthday. I guess it is true that we really are products of the people we come from.  Clearly some of the ol' Unti traits have made their way to both Sean and me.  How else can you explain some of our similarities ... moving the furniture when dealing with bouts of insomnia, loving dogs, hating mornings.... the list goes on. I definitely enjoy spending time with my cousins, people  who are similar to me yet independently unique.  I absolutely adore them all.

Please excuse the infrequency of my posting as of late.  Aside from thesis work/meetings, it seems that anything without an "i" in front of it receives little attention in our household, and the broken internet on my laptop fell victim to that.  Anyhow... I have never been one to practice the art of New Year’s Resolutions.  I’m a pretty driven person (likely too much so), so when I think of something I want to do differently I do it.  Despite that, I appreciate the practice of self-evaluation.  So, for 2011, instead of making a resolution to do something new/differently, I want to maintain some practices started in 2010.  Here’s what I’ve come up with: maintain a 4-5x a week workout schedule       get at least seven hours of sleep per night during the work week        enjoy at least one alarm-free weekend morning        resume a running regimen and prepare for some kind of charity r...

Brian and I have visited a number of places, and it is safe to say that Yosemite National Park (CA) is one of our favorites.  Our first visit was nearly four-and-a-half years ago when we honeymooned there.  Since that time, we have been back twice, and a third trip is certainly in our near future.  Each time we are there, we do something different, stay in a different area, and fall in love with YNP even more.  If it weren't for the bears and my fear of them eating my kittens, I think I would agree to move there.....hey, I could be a great park ranger or bus driver?! Our love for Yosemite and our growing interest in art/photography were coupled recently.  Behold my beautiful Christmas present from my amazing husband!
